Cardiovascular Associates of Lake County Serves the Growing Community From Three Locations.

Less than a decade ago, Lake County patients in need of invasive / interventional cardiology procedures such as angioplasty or pacemaker implantation were forced to seek medical help in adjacent communities. That changed when Dr. J. Henry Lesmes, MD came to Lake County, bringing with him knowledge and technology that got to the heart of the matter.

Dr. Lesmes opened his first office in 1991 on Burleigh Boulevard in Tavares. His staff was small, just two employees. The following year the Miami native founded Cardiovascular Associates of Lake County, relocating the practice in 1993 to Leesburg. Dr. Lesmes, who completed his residency in Internal Medicine as well as his Cardiology training at St. John Hospital and Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Lesmes introduced comprehensive cardiac care, including transesophageal echocardiography, to Lake County. Prior to that time, patients had to travel to Orlando or Ocala to receive the treatment.

Dr. Samuel J. Goss, D.O.  joined the practice in 1995. Acquainted with Cardiovascular Associates during his cardiology fellowship, he was excited at the prospect of practicing cardiology in Lake County, citing the tremendous growth of the practice. More importantly, however, was his unwavering commitment to providing excellence in cardiac care. Dr. Goss, an Orlando native who attended Roll ins College, completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his Cardiology training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. In 1996 the partners relocated to the Lakeside Medical Center in Tavares.

Dr. Alex Caballero, MD came onboard the following year. Caballero served his residency in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. He completed a Cardiology training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He then went on to complete an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Dr. Moises Fraifeld, MD joined Cardiovascular Associates this past July, 1999. Dr. Fraifeld completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his Cardiology training at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. He completed an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.

With the addition of Dr. Fraifeld,  Cardiovascular Associates expanded to include a second office. The Leesburg based facility is staffed full time on a rotation basis.
