SAMPLE LETTER TO ELECTIVE OFFICIALS
Dear Senators and Congress,
I am writing to express my deep concern about the proposed 2010 Medicare
fee schedule for cardiology Services that will, if passed significantly
cut physician reimbursement. This will reduce my access to Critical
Cardiology services and may force my Cardiologist to close outlying
offices and eliminate in office life saving cardiology test procedures
and other services.
Proposed reforms will severely cut reimbursement for imaging procedures
that my Cardiologist needs to diagnose and treat my heart disease.
ProposedMedicare changes also would decrease Cardiology reimbursement
in general.
I am worried that I will have to drive longer distances and spend additional
time away from my work and family to obtain my Cardiac Care. I am concerned
that I will have to wait longer to get appointments, tests, and test
results. I am afraid that if I have to use the hospital for my Cardiac
Tests, I will have higher out-of-pocket co-pays. I know it costs Medicare
more for me to receive outpatient tests from the hospital than from
my doctor. How does that save money for the federal government or me
as a taxpayer?
I urge you to vote against proposed cuts for cardiology services in
2010 Medicare fee schedule and any healthcare reform measures that
would cut Cardiology and Imaging Reimbursement, and thereby reduce
my access to my Cardiologist and Cardiac Care, and increase my costs
as both a patient and a taxpayer.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
As a Concerned Patient, Tax Payer and Citizen
